Published: October 21, 2025

We’ve enjoyed two recent visits (of five and four weeks, respectively) to the Brisbane area. Our two energetic girls love spending plenty of time in parks or playgrounds, so we’ve been to a few! Read on to discover our top picks for parks and playgrounds in Brisbane and nearby. We hope you enjoy them as much as we have!

Parks and playgrounds in Brisbane

Roma Street Parklands

The Roma Street Parklands has got to be one of the best parks in Brisbane! It’s located in the center and offers a lot for families.

We loved the rainforest, vast green spaces, gorgeous flowers, and water features.

The girls could roller blade and ride scooters. There’s also a lovely playground that fits perfectly with its natural surroundings.

This park has many lizards, so you’ll probably spot some while there!

Riverside Green Playground

The Riverside Green Playground is situated in Southbank, at the heart of the city. It’s a really neat playground with plenty of climbing equipment. One of the favorite features for kids is the giant hamster wheel. Although it can get pretty brutal in there, the kids love it!

Make sure you plan to spend the whole day at Southbank, or at least a morning or afternoon. When the kids have had enough of the playground, there’s a pool, beach, splash park, and more to enjoy!

Boorabbin Picnic Ground Park

The Boorabbin Picnic Ground Park in Wishart was such a fun find for us! It’s a fabulous nature spot with full tree cover and a shallow swimming creek that’s ideal for kids. The kids will love playing on the little rope swings over the water.

This park is excellent for nature play close to the city. You can hear the cars roaring past behind the creek, but you can’t see them😆

Boorabbin Picnic Ground also has the usual park amenities like a playground, toilets, grassy areas, and even an off-leash dog park.

Whale Park Wynnum

Whale Park Wynnum is an excellent playground and splash park for kids on Brisbane’s Bayside. It’s the sort of place you can spend the whole day with a beach and jetty in front, the (free) Wynnum wading pool next door, and the extensive paved pathways along the waterfront.

The Manly Playground at Bayside Park

The Manly Playground has one main feature: a giant climbing pyramid that should keep the kids entertained for a while. The playground also has some equipment for small children. Plus, it’s next door to the Manly Pool, making it ideal to combine the two into one outing.

Ed Devenport Rotary Park

The Ed Devenport Rotary Park is a nice option in Lota if you’re looking for skate parks in Brisbane’s Bayside. The skate park is really nice, and there’s also a small playground, making it easy to stay for a while.

Airlie’s Playground

If you find yourself on Brisbane’s Bayside, Airlie’s Playground in Lota is a top pick for the kids.

It’s a lovely, enclosed playground next to the waterfront and grassy areas. Bring scooters, bikes, etc, if you have them, as it’s also a great spot to enjoy the paved coastal pathway.

My kids also love the gym next to the playground, possibly even more than the playground itself!

Beth Boyd Park

Beth Boyd Park is a lovely bay-side park and playground in Brisbane. It’s big enough to keep the kids entertained for a while!

Located in Thorneside, it’s also a gorgeous spot to enjoy the paved waterfront walkways and local birdlife.

Aquatic Paradise Park West

Aquatic Paradise Park West is just a little further along the road from Beth Boyd Park. The playground is relatively small, but the waterfront setting is pretty, so it’s an ideal place to bring a picnic and relax for a while.

Les Moore Park

Les Moore Park is a fabulous place to take the kids. It’s on the Esplanade at Victoria Point, and features a fantastic playground and paved walkways. There’s also some really great fitness equipment, which our kids love!

Mount Cotton Community Park

Mount Cotton Community Park has a great playground and skate park that the kids will love. The park’s setting is truly picturesque, with a creek and lakes that make the area even more scenic.

You’ll find plenty of wildlife around. We saw a variety of birdlife, including giant ducks and pelicans. The kids saw a green tree snake and a water dragon. The only dampener was a scary, swooping crow that was more aggressive than I’ve ever seen. Stay safe out there!

Jingeri Park Redlands

Jingeri Park Redlands has a great new playground for the kids. The lighthouse-slide combo is unique and gives the park a nice look.

Our kids played here for ages with their homeschooling buddies. The park also has a nice grass area, ideal for kicking a ball around.

The only downside is the lack of toilets, so you’ll need to head to the public toilet about 200m down the road amongst the show homes.

Point Talburpin Park Playground

The Point Talburpin Park Playground is a nice spot to take the kids in Redland Bay. They will love the big slide, climbing structures, grassy area, and the pump track!

Redland Bay Skate Park

The Redland Bay Skate Park is small, but a nice spot to take the kids to burn off energy if you’re in the area. It also has a little court with a hoop and is right next to the dog park.

Potts Place Park Playground

The Potts Place Park Playground is a lovely little playground in Redland Bay. The equipment is new, and it’s a nice spot to meet local kids, especially after school!

Parks and Playgrounds in Logan City

Underwood Park Priestdale

Underwood Park Priestdale offers a lot more than just a playground! This huge park has several sports fields, a skate park, lagoon, Buddhist temple, and even a yoga and meditation deck.

But the best part for us was the gigantic trees along the Underwood Road side of the park—climbing heaven for the kids!

The kids will enjoy the Funderwood Hollow Playground, located within the park. It’s not huge, but it has some fun treehouses and a couple of unique things to play with.
