Woodgate is a laid-back coastal location in central Queensland. If you’re looking for things to do in Woodgate, check out these ideas for how to spend a morning or afternoon enjoying the area.
Enjoy Woodgate Beach
I love Woodgate Beach! It reminds me of New Zealand beaches, with its raw beauty and less developed coastline.
But it’s in Queensland, so it’s way warmer…like NZ summer temps in mid-winter😆.
Woodgate boasts a gorgeous 16km stretch of sandy beach, with little to no surf, so it’s perfect for family-friendly swimming.
The beach is vast and the sand is firm, making it a favorite spot for 4WDs.
Woodgate isn’t very busy, so the beach is an ideal spot for quiet relaxation.

Walk the Banksia Track
If you’re looking for things to do in Woodgate, check out the Banksia Track. This easy, 5.4km loop trail is part of the beautiful Burrum Coast National Park.
The track is mostly sand, with a boardwalk section over the wetland area, some dirt sections, and a paved section at the trailhead.
Our 6-year-old forgot to bring her shoes that day, and she managed it barefoot!
It’s a lovely flat trail suitable for various fitness levels. At an average adult walking pace, it will probably take around an hour or so.
