Can a 4-year old climb a volcano?

By Colin Clapp

Join us in Berastagi in the north Indonesian island of Sumatra on the day of Little Miss’ 4th birthday. Follow along to see how we get on as we attempt a ‘living life’ ‘passport’ moment with a day hike up Mount Sibayak, a hissing and spouting volcano a short drive from Berastagi.

(At the time of this trip, we called Penang, Malaysia home so our visit to Sumatra was really a 10-day ‘visa run’ from Malaysia to Indonesia. The flights from Penang to Medan are cheap and quick so it made for an ideal location to get away and try some new adventure and cultural experiences. Our trip took in Medan, Berastagi and the small island of Samosir on Lake Toba, a beautiful setting a short ferry ride from Parapat.
