Our family recently had the opportunity to visit Aussie World, a fantastic theme park located in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Queensland, Australia. We’ll share all the details in this post so you know what to expect and how to make the most of your day.

Our overall experience
We definitely rate our overall Aussie World experience as five stars. We visited on a weekday, so there were no lines, and we were able to make the most of our day. There were fewer staff members operating rides, so not all of them were open at once. When we asked about opening a particular ride, we always got a positive response.
The staff were super welcoming and friendly, and even fed up lollipops when rides were closed due to thunderstorm warnings. We also loved their brightly colored shirts!
Regarding our favorite rides, Colin and I loved the Plunge, which gives you just the right amount of splash. Ayla loved the thrills of the SX360, and Romy was an ace on the Speed Stars racing track.
Rides and attractions
One of Aussie World’s key points of difference is that it really does cater to all ages, especially younger kids. Too often, parents with kids under 120cm go to a theme park expecting a fun day out, only to discover that there are very few rides their kids are allowed on.
Aussie World, however, has several height categories for rides. I’ve broken down the general categories below. You will also easily be able to see which rides your kids can go on with the park map you’re given upon entry.
As mentioned below, your little ones will need to be accompanied on some rides until they reach a certain height.
Rides for the littlest ones
Kids under 100cm can enjoy the Giggle Go Round. They can also ride the carousel, Tin Lids Tea Party, and Little Beaut Toot Toot (a mini train ride) when accompanied by an adult.
If they’re over 90cm, they can also race around the Speed Stars track with an adult.
Rides for those a little taller
Kids over 100cm can ride the Booma Zooma and Bug Run by themselves. The Bug Run is a mini roller coaster. Adults can ride too…Colin managed to just squeeze himself in there!
They can ride the Bombora Bounce, The Plunge, and the Mozzi Musta when accompanied, and the Rev Shed Dodgem cars as a passenger. Additionally, the Space Shaker is available for those over 102cm in height, accompanied by an adult.
Those taller than 110cm can ride the Bombora Bounce, Speed Stars, and Space Shaker by themselves. They can also try out the Ballroom Blitz (a fun, chairplane-type ride) and The Wasp with an adult.
Rides for the big kids
Kids over 120cm can enjoy the thrills of The Plunge, the Giant Slide, and the Mozzi Musta unaccompanied.
With an adult, they can zoom and spin around on the Dingo Racer, a spinning type coaster. It replaced the original Wild Mouse wooden coaster, which closed in 2016. You can still see a couple of the original cars there next to the Dingo Racer.
The Wasp, Ballroom Blitz, and Redback are available for those taller than 130cm when accompanied by an adult. The Redback is one of the park’s most-loved rides with its circular rotations in both directions and outward-facing seats. Kids of this height can also ride the Red Shed Dodgems as a driver and the Retro Rocket (accompanied).
Finally, those over 140cm can prepare for the ultimate adrenaline rush on the SX360, a full-circle swing! They can also ride the Dingo Racer and Retro Rocket unaccompanied.
Games, attractions, and workshops
Aussie World has additional games and attractions suitable for all ages. Pop on the special glasses and explore Professor Bogglesworth’s Illusionarium, or cool off at the Leak’n Logs water play area, included in your ticket price.
Add-ons include the Platypus Ponds Mini Golf, classic carnival games at the Side Show Alley, arcade and video games at Phileas’s Fun Worx, and slime-making workshops.
Plus, there’s the Mayhem Maze: Asylum for ages 12+, a haunted house-style maze. Our kids are a little young for that, so we didn’t visit…it looks proper scary from what we could see!

Tips to make the most of your day | good to know
The following tips will help you prepare for the best day out at Aussie World.
- If you wish to leave during the day, you will be issued a band to re-enter the park.
- We found that we didn’t get too wet on The Plunge, but we recommend bringing swimsuits or a change of clothes for the little ones, as there is a water play area.
- Check the Aussie World website for ride closures before you go. There are usually a few rides closed for routine maintenance. The website clearly outlines the planned closure dates for specific rides, and staff will also inform you upon entry.

Where is Aussie World located?
Aussie World is in Palmview, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. It’s close to other Sunshine Coast attractions, such as Amaze World, Australia Zoo, the Big Pineapple, and the Sunshine Coast beaches. Aussie World is 93km north of Brisbane City and 77km from Bribie Island.
What are the opening hours?
Aussie World is open from 10am until 4pm. It’s open seven days per week during school holidays, and from Wednesday to Sunday during school terms.
What dining options are available?
The Fun Cafe is the main dining option inside the park. It has a range of reasonably priced food, including burgers, wraps, coffee, muffins, ice cream, and gelato.
Alternatively, the Banana Bender Pub is next door to the park. This three-storey establishment is a fantastic spot to immerse yourself in Queensland culture. It’s home to Mango’s Bar & Grill, which serves a range of delicious food and drinks for the whole family.
Is it cheaper to buy tickets for Aussie World online?
Yes, it’s cheaper to buy tickets online. For a single ticket, you’ll save around $6 by booking online. For family tickets, you can save up to $50 by purchasing general admission tickets online, or up to $114.50 for value bundles.

Can you bring your own food to Aussie World?
No, you can’t bring your own food into Aussie World, and your bag might be checked upon entry. You can bring water, and the park has good dining options.
Does Aussie World have animals?
No, Aussie World does not have animals. I was happy to see this before we decided to go, as I don’t support zoos or theme parks with animals. Instead, the focus is on rides and other attractions.
